About us
Get In the House is a house concert series that features acoustic music in Rogers Park, a Chicago neightborhood. After attending many, many musical performances in Chicago, and then venturing to some of the notable folk festivals in the US, the idea to host house concerts came about and became a dream. The opportunity to host a real-live house concert was practically handed to me when the tag at the bottom of an artists' news list inquired: "Would you like to host a house concert? Call or email us." So, I did!The first gathering was during a snowstorm in January 2000 in my former apartment in Andersonville. Since then, a variety of artists have appeared in our living room, for audiences of 28-33 people. Typically, those attending bring a snack or dessert to share. We provide soft drinks (though, you are always welcome to bring wine or beer to share). We usually have a break between sets where we hit the refreshment table.
We're proud of our intimate atmosphere in which to enjoy a favorite performer or to sample a performer who is new to you. This series specializes in acoustic singer-songwriters from all over the country, partly due to the tastes of the producer and partly due to the electrical limitations of our home. Our goal is to introduce folks to up-and-coming artists or artists who are, in our opinion, under-exposed. Please review our guidelines for house concert attendees and our cancellation policy.

To get an idea of the styles we feature, look at our "Schedule", "Reviews" and "Links" pages.
Our refreshment table is a favorite of our house concert attendees. Check out the new recipe exchange area of our website.
