Butterscotch Brownies

1/4 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup flour
1 tsp. fresh double-acting baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 - 1/3 cup chocolate chips

This recipe requires a 9 x 9-inch baking pan.

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

2. Melt butter in saucepan.

3. Stir brown sugar into butter until dissolved.

4. Cool these ingredients slightly, then beat in well the egg and vanilla.

5. In a separate bowl, sift the flour together with the baking powder and salt.

6. Stir the flour mixture into the butter mixture.

7. Stir in the chocolate chips.

8. Pour batter into greased pan. Bake 20-25 minutes.

9. Cut into bars when cool.
